Site Accessibility

I'm committed to making the World Wide Web fully accessible to everyone. This site is made in a way that it is accessible to everyone and can be seen in every browser. This page is a statement about how this web site is made accessible, user-friendly and standards compliant.

Navigation

This web site is coded in such a way so that you can navigate it without the use of a mouse but with the use of a keyboard through Access Keys.

Using the power of OOP with PHP and MySQL, Access Keys are created dynamically on-the-fly for body content. This means that the Access Keys for links on the page are all numerical and are in an ascending order. For example, the fifth link on the page will have 5 as it's Access Key.

Conformance to Internet Standards

All pages within this site have been tested to be valid XHTML 1.1, and use a valid Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) to format the appearance of the pages. By strictly adhering to these standards, compatibility across browsers and operating systems should be maintained. Pages should still be legible in older browsers that cannot understand CSS files.

Where stated at the footer of the page, this site conforms to the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 1.0), up to Priority 3 or 'Triple A' standards. In other circumstances, where PDF files are used, for instance, all efforts have been made to make these documents accessible.

Changing Font Sizes

Users may feel that the text on a web site is either too small or too large to meet their visual requirements. These pages use relative font sizes, which means that they can be easily resized within any internet browser. To adjust your browser's settings to meet your requirements, follow these instructions.

Acronyms

Every effort has been made to add acronym tags to acronyms contained within this site. Where an acronym appears on a page for the first time, a dotted orange line should be visible beneath it (like this)- hovering the cursor over the underlined text should reveal a small box that shows the full text. If you see an acronym that has not been defined at all within a page, please send me details of the acronym and web page address (http://...) using the email link shown below.

Pop Up Windows

Every effort has been made to make sure that this web site does not use automatic pop up windows and does not rely on new windows to deliver information. JavaScript have been installed to allow external links to open in a new windows but these links still work even if Javascript is disabled. All external links can be identified by this arrow ⇒ next to the link text.

Javascript

Every effort has been made to allow this web site to function properly without the use of JavaScripts. However, we see both the advantages and disadvantages of using JavaScript and users having it enabled or disabled. Therefore, we have made sure that where the user has not got JavaScript enabled, a 'noscript' alternative is always present. If you would like to learn more about how to enable or disable JavaScript, please read this site's privacy and legal page.

Flash and Shockwave

To give the user the best multimedia experience found on the web and to show my customers my skills with different technologies, I have included such additional interactive features as Macromedia Flash and Shockwave. These are used to present additional information such as in-site advertisements but are not vital. I have taken every effort to make sure all the information that is distributed within this site via Macromedia Flash and Shockwave is found in an accessible manner.
